A Christmas Mousetery at Fairfax House

The Polar Express Train Ride at Wensleydale
Enjoy a magical Christmas adventure just like the 2004 motion picture, The Polar Express. Be sure to arrive in your pyjamas (or a Christmas jumper if you prefer!) with your golden ticket in hand. You’re about to climb aboard a theatrical experience like no other.
Meet the iconic characters of the conductor and the singing chefs. Whitby Christmas Market & Festival
Whitby Christmas Market & Festival is a beloved annual event that brings festive cheer to the coastal town. The market is the perfect chance to start your Christmas shopping, offering a range of local crafts and gifts.
Throughout the weekend, you can enjoy performances from local choirs, jazz bands, and fun acts who will keep crowds entertained. Friday’s highlight is the official switch-on of the Christmas lights, accompanied by live music and carols, while Saturday wraps up with a spectacular fireworks display. On Sunday, the festivities continue with more live music and performances to close out the weekend.

Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland
Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland has been bringing a festive feel to York Designer Outlet for years and this year is no different! There are a range of activities for everyone to enjoy, so you can craft a festive afternoon that best suits you.
Take a spin on the vintage funfair rides if you’re looking for a thrill, or warm up with a cosy visit to Santa’s grotto or The Chalet alpine cafe. The biggest attraction though is The Ice Factor. It is the largest outdoor ice rink in the North of England and for a real festive feel, get your skates on and enjoy a few laps around the central 30ft Christmas tree!

Alice’s Christmas Wonderland at Castle Howard

The Christmas Adventure at Stockeld Park
Stockeld Park began as a humble Christmas Tree shop, so there is no wonder that Christmas is their most famous season! From the magical winter illuminations to the pretty snowflake maze and ice skating, there is something for everyone.
Plus, if all the activities aren’t to your taste, most activities have individual tickets available so you can choose your favourites. But, if you want to do everything, you can upgrade your tickets package with add-ons to make sure you cover everything they have on offer!

Mother Shipton’s at Christmas
Stroll through the pretty winter woodland at Mother Shipton’s Cave to discover the enchanted Christmas Village. You will be met by the Chief elf who will guide you to Santa Claus in his cosy grotto. You’ll encounter plenty of insta-worthy photo opportunities on your adventure!
Warm up with a hot drink before you venture further into the attraction. You will need to book a Christmas Park Admission Ticket to access to the festive sights plus the petrifying well and museum. To meet Santa each child will also require a Santa Experience Ticket.

Father Christmas at Bolton Abbey
Discover the twinkling Christmas village tucked away in Strid Wood on the Bolton Priory estate. An enchanting experience awaits, filled with cheeky elves, festive crafts, and a meeting with Father Christmas.
Children have an opportunity to enjoy two festive crafts, plus a musical activity. The children then help the elves wake Father Christmas up in time for his important deliveries! As a reward, each child will get a gift to take home (as long as they are on the good list!) You can also purchase a hot drink and snacks but note it is cash payment only.

NYMR Christmas Moorlander
This winter, experience the Christmas Moorlander Lunch Service onboard the heritage carriages of NYMR. Enjoy a delicious festive meal with friends or family whilst travelling through the North York Moors National Park this holiday season.
The NYMR team are on hand to welcome you aboard before you depart through the picturesque North York Moors National Park. You’ll start your visit with a warming glass of mulled wine, before being served a starter of either Winter Vegetable Soup, Classic Prawn Cocktail or Baked Mushroom stuffed with Harrogate Blue Cheese and Walnuts.
For your main course, the Head Chef has prepared Traditional Roast Turkey, Roast Topside of Local Beef or Home-made Vegetable Wellington, all served rosemary and garlic roast potatoes, sprouts, honey roast carrots and parsnips.
Before you enjoy a freshly brewed Yorkshire tea or coffee and a mince pie on the return journey from Pickering, you have the option of a Traditional Christmas Pudding, Chocolate and Cointreau Tart or a Selection of Cheeses and Biscuits to indulge in.

12 Days of Christmas at Bolton Abbey
As you enjoy a walk through Strid Wood, clues connected to the popular ‘12 Days of Christmas’ carol will help you to solve the festive mystery on the trail sheet. The trail will begin at the Cavendish Shop and lead you up to the Strid.
Families are encouraged to follow a different route back to the car park to avoid the green trail becoming overcrowded. Activity sheets will be issued from the car park kiosks on arrival. Pre-booking your Estate entry is recommended, and you are advised to choose the Riverside car park to join the trail at the beginning.
Tickets for the ‘12 Days of Christmas’ event are included in the Estate car parking price. You do not need to purchase any additional tickets.

NYMR Santa Specials
Join Santa and his special team of elves at either Pickering or Grosmont Station before a magical adventure aboard the Santa Express which will take you on a festive journey you won’t forget!
This enchanting Christmas experience sees Mr. Claus and his jolly helpers pass through the heritage carriages, giving children a chance to meet the legendary man himself on board the train. And he will be gifting a special soft toy present to the children onboard – providing they’ve managed to keep themselves off the naughty list this year!

Whitby Krampus Run
In parts of Europe on the Eve of the Feast of St. Nicholas, the Saint visits homes to give gifts to good children. He is accompanied by his dark counterpart, The Krampus, who teases and punishes naughty children.
Whitby Krampus Run started in 2013 as a lone Krampus. He was joined by friends in 2015, and it then went on to become a full public event in 2017.
The costumed street parade is an interpretation of the Alpine winter tradition with inclusion of local folklore and history to infuse a unique take on the Krampus legend and lore. Whitby Krampus Run has now become a tradition in its own.

Christmas at Dreamery Gardens
At England’s Fairy Sanctuary at Dreamery Gardens, meet a Father Christmas of the past. He is one of the fairy folks. A wandering storyteller, miracle-worker, and a protector of children. Take a spot on a stool and hear the stories he has to tell.
Your ticket also gets you entry to the fairy trail, museum, and winter display. If you are looking for a red Santa Claus event, this isn’t it! This Christmas event will be an atmospheric Christmas of stories, lanterns, and imagination. Perfect if you’re looking for something more calm but equally magical!

Scarborough North Bay Railway Santa Specials
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, so why not kick off the festive season by heading down to the Scarborough North Bay Railway for their famous Santa Specials!
Fun for all the family – all aboard the magical Jingle Belle or Flying Snowman, immerse yourself in festive wonder as this incredibly special train takes you on a journey to the North Yorkshire Pole.
Whilst waiting to see Santa, inside the brand-new Mrs Claus’ Kitchen, adults can enjoy complimentary seasonal refreshments including mince pies, hot chocolate and mulled wine, with juice and biscuits for children. There will be the chance to have a ride on Santa’s sleigh, write your letter to Santa, make your own Reindeer food and much more to keep all entertained!
Once it is your time, you will be led by the mischievous elves to the beautifully decorated Grotto to spend some quality one to one time with the man himself and receive a special gift. Your Santa Special experience will last for approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Mischief at the Mansion at Harewood House
Mischief at the Mansion at Harewood House promises a whimsical, immersive Christmas experience unlike any other.
Brought to life by the acclaimed Studio McGuire, this event showcases a world where festive traditions meet digital artistry. Cherubs escaping from the grand Christmas tree set the stage for a series of enchanting spectacles, with singing decorations, animated ceilings, and statues that come to life to share tales of the past.
This immersive journey follows in the footsteps of 2019’s Night at the Mansion, celebrated for its innovative storytelling and mesmerising visuals.

The Christmas Experience at Lotherton Hall
This year Lotherton Hall is hosting a family festive event steeped in traditional Christmas magic. Meet Santa under the wishing tree in the Elf Village, to share your Christmas list with him and to be given a small gift. There are even special sessions available for even the tiniest of visitors.
You can also enjoy a themed festive woodland walk with brand new installations to enjoy. The stunning Edwardian house is also dressed for the occasion, and you can even book a kid’s craft session with the elves and Mrs Claus.

Keighley and Worth Valley Railway Elf Explorer
A magical Christmas experience that is guaranteed to light up your children’s faces and get the whole family in the mood for the Festive Season. This theatrical journey on board a beautiful steam train is the perfect way to travel, and Father Christmas thinks so too.
Your adventure starts with a journey through a Winter Wonderland and into Santa’s workshop. The resident elf will check you in and check if you’ve been naughty or nice. Children can write a letter to Santa and other activities whilst parents visit the fully stocked bar for a Christmas tipple, or collect pre-booked drinks to take on the train.
Watch the live 20-minute elf show before you commence boarding, ready for an unforgettable festive ride on the steam train. After just over an hour of festive fun the train will return to Oxenhope and it will be time to disembark.

The Santa Express & SEND Train at Whistlestop Valley
The Santa Express & SEND Train feature a trip aboard the heated carriages hauled by a steam locomotive, transporting you to the North Pole.
Whilst at the North Pole, you will have a one-on-one meeting with the big guy himself inside his cosy grotto, filled with sacks of presents for the kids. There’ll be a complimentary edible festive treat and drink for everyone, plus the opportunity to make up a bag of magical reindeer food to take home with you.
You’ll also be able to have a Yuletide whizz around the duck pond on the ride-on miniature train at the front of Clayton West Station!

Christmas in Haworth
The charming village of Haworth is the perfect setting for some festive fun this winter. Throughout December there are a series of events taking place to get you in the festive spirit. From festive lights to cosy carols, you can admire this beautiful setting decked for Christmas.
The celebrations kick off in early December with the Christmas light switch on. From then on you can enjoy a sparking torchlight process, Christmas music, nativity scenes and much more on select dates. Check out the link below for the full calendar of activities.

Saltaire Living Advent Calendar
Running since 2006, the Saltaire Living Advent Calendar has become a real highlight for Saltaire and Bradford.
With its quirky window designs in picturesque settings, this magical event sees windows light up daily throughout the month in houses, schools, shops and churches until Christmas Eve.
There is a strong community focus; anyone in the village can take part, and participants include new residents, children, seasoned window creators, professional artists and local businesses. In 2021, a record 62 windows lit up throughout December, creating a festive trail throughout the village.
Window designs remain a secret until they are revealed at 4pm on their light-up date, and typically include traditional and modern festive scenes, quirky characters and tales influenced by Saltaire, culture, and the window creators own lives and experiences – often with a good sprinkling of festive humour!
A map showing the locations of the windows can be downloaded at the link below from November and can be picked up at locations throughout Saltaire. Windows are illuminated from 4pm – 10.30pm each evening, until the 1st of January.

Santa Specials at Middleton Railway
From the festively decorated visitor centre to the magical Santa special train, you can’t escape the festive feeling at Middleton Railway. Enjoy a ride on a classic steam train where Santa and his elves will be handing out gifts to young visitors.

Santa Claus Experience at Roundhay Park

Enjoy a magical experience at Sewerby Hall this winter. Experience an incredible outdoor trail full of lights and sounds.

Watch out though because the Winter Woodland Elves are causing mischief! They are tinkering with lights and sound to create a stunning party atmosphere in the woods, with the emphasis firmly on fun.
It will be an opportunity to enjoy the woods on a free-flowing walk, lit up with stunning displays of colour, and to see what the woodland elves get up to outside of the toymaker’s workshop – playing, crafting, and dancing with the reindeer.

Magical Santa Experience at Sledmere House
For children, there is nothing more magical than meeting Santa Claus at Christmas. At Sledmere House, you can enjoy a meet and greet session, where you will be met by his elves, before being introduced to the big man himself.
Each child can choose a gift from the elf toy store. Tickets also include entry to the Christmas village where you can enjoy festive crafts and games.
You can also do a spot of Christmas shopping on your visit at The Christmas Barn which is full of stunning decorations, festive homeware and lots of beautiful gifts.
