The harbour also transforms with the much-loved Ships Ahoy! display, where decorated vessels create a glowing spectacle across the water.
You can enjoy a wide range of creative installations across the town. Highlights include the cinematic projections of Scarborough Histories and Mysteries at St Mary’s Church and the illuminated keep at Scarborough Castle. Peasholm Island, St Helen’s Square and the Stephen Joseph Theatre also host unique displays, each adding a different atmosphere to the festival.
The drone display at Scarborough Castle offers a fresh way to see the landmark, while SPRiTES at Scarborough Spa promises an imaginative family adventure. Musical performances and community activities complete the line-up, giving you many ways to enjoy Scarborough during the festive season.

RHS Glow 2025 at RHS Harlow Carr
RHS Glow returns to RHS Garden Harlow Carr in Harrogate with a dazzling new winter trail. As night falls, the gardens are transformed into a wonderland of light, colour and festive atmosphere. You can wander through illuminated landscapes and see familiar sights in a whole new way, from twinkling trees to shimmering reflections across the Queen Mother’s Lake.
This year’s reimagined trail promises new surprises around every corner, making it perfect for an evening out with family, friends or someone special. The Thaliana Bridge becomes a glowing centrepiece, while hidden corners of the gardens are bathed in soft, magical light. It’s a feast for the senses and a highlight of Yorkshire’s festive calendar.
Hannah’s Highlight: The illuminated light trail, with its purple trees, blue hedgerows, and pink borders, feels like stepping into a dream. Unlike other festive light trails, Glow lets nature shine without the distraction of music or flashy displays. Christmas at Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal

Whitby Krampus Run & Ball

Every artist aged 16 or over and either living in or professionally based in the UK can submit up to three recent pieces made in the last 18 months. Submission fees are £7.50 per artwork, with a reduced rate (£6) for artists aged 16-25 and disabled artists.
