‘Yellow Day’ was a project rolled out across Hull on June 24th, 2017. It was brought to fruition with the help of countless local residents with a passion for the place where they live.

This year’s theme, butterflies, adds a touch of transformation, reflecting the city’s continuous growth and resilience.

The day itself was created to help people from Hull to celebrate their love of their city, and its fascinating history, by means of wearing or creating something yellow.

The colour yellow is a psychologically uplifting colour. It resonates with spontaneity, optimism, positivity, and energy. All those elements with people’s love of Hull and its long and influential history.

This family-friendly event is free and open to all, inviting you to don or create something yellow, a colour that symbolises Hull’s original coat of arms and embodies spontaneity, optimism, and energy.
