How to get there: By car, the easiest way to access the property is to exit the M40 at junction 12. Upon booking, The Landmark Trust will send comprehensive details on how to get there. The nearest rail station is Stratford-upon-Avon, eight miles from the property. The nearest airport is Birmingham Airport, which is approximately a 30-minute drive away.

The Bath House: A Landmark Trust Property Review
Always drawn to unusual accommodation, The Bath House shot to the top of our list when we first discovered it. The Get Lost team were lucky enough to spend three nights at this enchanting property, and we’re sharing our thoughts below.
The Landmark Trust
The Landmark Trust has a mission. They strive to save historic buildings that are in danger. They lovingly restore them and let them out as unique accommodation for this and future generations to enjoy.
Within their portfolio, The Landmark Trust has almost 200 properties in Britain, several in France, Italy and one in Belgium.
The Landmark Trust takes pride in their reliance on traditional craft skills. During the restoration, they are sensitive to the history of the building. Rather than impose modernity onto the building, the bring out the historic character.
The Landmark Trust made a conscious decision to not install televisions or wi-fi in their properties. This reinforces the atmosphere of their properties and means a Landmark break is a real opportunity to switch off. Ideal for couples or families depending on the size of the property, you can use it as a break to turn off the tech, explore the local area and relax on an evening with a book or board games.
The Bath House
The Bath House is located a short drive outside of the village Wellesbourne, Warwickshire. It is approximately a 20-minute drive from William Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon. Warwick, Leamington Spa, and the Cotswolds are also easily accessible by car from this location.
The Bath House is accessed via a long, gated driveway. The property itself has virtually no land belonging to it, but it is set in privately-owned woods, so you’re guaranteed a remote escape.
It is believed that The Bath House was designed in 1748 by the architect Sanderson Miller. Beautifully restored, this octagonal folly has a ceiling and walls festooned with icicles and seashells.
The Main Room
The Bath House itself features one main room for living, dining, and sleeping. This spacious room has a beautiful high, domed ceiling. With mottled mint walls, dripping icicles from the ceiling and festooned seashells on the walls, The Bath House gives of a mythical and distinctly underwater feel. You will be in awe of the magical tranquillity of the place.
Although heated by radiators, there is the option to purchase fuel for the open fire. This gives the room a cozy and homely feel.
The Landmark Trust provides a small library of books in each property. The titles (a combination of both fiction and non-fiction) are carefully chosen to echo the history of the building and/or the local area. These can be enjoyed on a quiet evening in front of the fire to make it feel even more homely.
There is a separate kitchen in the property should you want to prepare your own meals rather than eat out. There is also a separate bathroom with a bath.
The Plunge Pool
The basement of The Bath House reveals where the property got its name. Fed by a natural spring, a cold plunge pool sits in the lowest level of the property for those brave enough to take a dip.
As the pool fills from a natural spring, it isn’t guaranteed that there will be enough water for swimming. But if there is, you can take a refreshing plunge to wake you up in the morning or revive you after a day of exploring.
Following an invigorating and bracing dip, you can retreat to the warmth of the open fire upstairs. Alternatively, you can enjoy the peace by relaxing on the chairs at the pool’s edge.
The Price
The Bath House sleeps two people and prices start at £345.00* for 4 nights. However, this price varies depending on the time of year. We paid £520.00* for a 3-night weekend break in December.
Although the price may initially appear steep, what you’re paying for with any Landmark Trust property is the exclusivity. For your money, you get exclusive use of a beautiful and unique property you won’t find anywhere else. A property that has been lovingly restored to an incredibly high standard.
You also get to escape for a while to a secluded location with no Wi-Fi but board games and a library of books. Most importantly, you’re paying for some quiet and an opportunity to recharge in peace. We all know that this alone is priceless!
What did we think of The Bath House?
Overall, a stay at The Bath House is a once in a lifetime experience. If you’re drawn to unusual accommodation, The Bath House will definitely deliver. The beauty and the serenity of the place, combined with the lack of technology, makes it an excellent opportunity to relax and recharge.
The location of The Bath House allows for several day trips during your break. However, if you simply wanted to escape the hustle and bustle, you can easily pass the time simply enjoying the property itself.
On the surface, the cost of stay isn’t cheap. However, the experience itself, in our opinion, is well worth the investment. The seclusion and exclusivity make this a sought-after property. We think a stay here should be on everyone’s travel bucket list!
Based on our experience, we’ll definitely invest in a stay in a Landmark Trust property again. They have a huge selection of properties in their portfolio. The only challenge is going to be deciding which one to experience next!
